University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks Halve the Double Header With Lions

The University of Tennessee Southern softball team split a pair with Bryan College on Wednesday. BC took game one 6-5, and UTS outlasted the Lions 12-9 in the nightcap.

GAME ONE

With the Firehawks trailing 2-0 in the third, Stella Gilbreath would drive in Emily Gable and Abigail Hornbuckle with her triple. Gilbreath would later score. Hannah Branam would drive in a pair with her double. UTS would lead 5-2 heading to the bottom of half of the inning. The stats for both games were incomplete at the time of writing.

Jayci Boozer would get the start. She would allow four earned runs on four hits in 2.2 innings of work. Kamryn Murdock and Ana Aaron would mop up the final innings.

GAME TWO

The Firehawks would never trail in the final game. Makenzie Cain, Gilbreath, Branam, and Kayley Ezell would score a the Firehawks led 4-0.

Branam would add an insurance run in the second to make the tally 5-0 after an inning and a half.

Cain would double in Hayley Parrott in the fourth. Gilbreath would double in Cain. Ezell would drive in Gilbreath. Makenna Birdsong would score Branam on a sacrifice fly in the fourth giving the Firehawks a 9-2 lead.

Gilbreath would score in the sixth, and Hornbuckle would drive in Ezell to make the score 11-6.

In the final inning, Cain would Sacrifice home Parrott.

Gilbreath took the win hurling four innings and allowing five earned runs. Macy Ciramella earned a save in the match tossing the final three innings and allowing four earned runs.
