Rep. Andy Ogles, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, published a series of posts on July 17, 2025, addressing issues ranging from city governance in Washington D.C. to university administration and federal tax policy.
In his first post at 13:42 UTC, Ogles criticized the leadership of Washington D.C., stating: “Mayor Bowser and the DC City Council love to pretend that they are managing the nation’s capital well but the reality is rampant homelessness, violent crime, and murder in the streets. Later that day at 15:11 UTC, Ogles commented on developments at Belmont University: ” BELMONT BOMBSHELL Within HOURS, multiple professors have contacted my office, blowing the whistle on just how aggressively Belmont University’s administration is pushing DEI indoctrination behind the scenes. At 16:14 UTC on July 17, Ogles posted about proposed federal tax legislation under former President Trump: “President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill unleashes the American economy by delivering the largest tax cut in the nation’s history for middle- and working-class folks. After the last four years, this is the breath of fresh air so many hardworking individuals and families need.”
Andy Ogles was born in Nashville in 1971 and currently resides in Columbia. He holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University. Before his current term in Congress began in 2023—when he succeeded Jim Cooper—Ogles had not previously served as a member of Congress.
