Rep. Andy Ogles, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, recently shared several posts on social media expressing his views on immigration enforcement and healthcare policy. Born in Nashville in 1971, Ogles currently resides in Columbia and holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
On May 13, 2025, Rep. Ogles addressed the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency with a brief statement urging them to deploy agents to a specific location. “.@ICEgov , y’all should get some agents here.”
Later that day, he posted about his stance against ObamaCare provisions within Republican policies. He expressed his refusal to support what he termed as “swamp deals” that include such provisions and criticized blue states for their handling of Medicaid funds. “I REFUSE to be an ObamaCare Republican…Blue states are ripping off Medicaid, and Tennesseans are footing the bill.”
In another post on the same day, Rep. Ogles commented on the deportation of Jassim Jafaf Al-Raash, an Iraqi national who had been convicted of rape and failed to register as a sex offender upon release. He highlighted Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s disapproval of ICE’s actions regarding Al-Raash’s deportation. “Meet 60-year-old Jassim Jafaf Al-Raash…Now, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell is outraged that @ICEgov deported him.”
