Rep. Andy Ogles, U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, posted a series of tweets in August 2025 expressing concern about crime in Washington, D.C., and calling for federal action to address lawlessness in the nation’s capital.

On August 8, Ogles wrote, “The Constitution is clear—the PEOPLE must rule their Capital. Parents are reaching out to my office with harrowing stories of their children dying on DC streets. Every story is the same—killers on the loose, and silence from the mayor.”

Two days later, on August 10, he posted a brief affirmation: “AMEN!”

Continuing his commentary on August 11, Ogles stated: “President Trump will restore our Capital and crush the lawlessness. Time to take DC BACK! #BowserAct”

Andy Ogles has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jim Cooper in 2023. Born in Nashville in 1971 and currently residing in Columbia, Ogles holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.

Ogles’ comments reflect ongoing debates over public safety and governance in Washington, D.C., issues that have drawn national attention amid concerns about violent crime rates and local leadership responses.
