Rep. Andy Ogles, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 5th district, has recently taken to social media to express his views on public broadcasting and government spending. Ogles, who replaced former U.S. Congress member Jim Cooper in 2023, has been vocal about his stance on defunding certain public entities and reducing wasteful spending.
On June 11, 2025, Rep. Ogles tweeted about PBS content with a strong statement: “THIS is what PBS wants your kids to watch. Time to defund them—TODAY.” His post reflects a call for action against the funding of PBS.
Later that day, he shared another tweet emphasizing fiscal responsibility: “Putting taxpayers first isn’t a partisan idea. It’s an American one.” He urged readers to explore his thoughts on reducing Washington’s spending through an attached link.
On June 12, 2025, Ogles reiterated his position on taxpayer protection by targeting public broadcasting entities like PBS and NPR. He tweeted: “Today, Republicans have the opportunity to defend American taxpayers and cut significant waste.” He proposed cutting funds for what he described as “Anti-American propaganda” from these organizations.
Andy Ogles was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1971 and currently resides in Columbia. He holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
