U.S. Representative Andy Ogles, who has represented Tennessee’s 5th district in Congress since 2023, posted a series of tweets on August 11, 2025, addressing violent crime and governance in Washington, D.C., while referencing actions by former President Trump and legislative efforts.

In his first tweet of the day, Ogles stated: ” FLASHBACK: Not Muriel Bowser, not the police chief, not a single DC elected official met with Eric Tarpinian-Jachym’s parents. Eric’s mother told my team directly—DC’s claim that they did is a flat-out lie. DC’s violent crime epidemic won’t end until this corrupt government” (August 11, 2025).

Later that afternoon, he called for direct federal intervention in the District: “Send in the troops. Crush the chaos. Eradicate DC’s corrupt government.” (August 11, 2025).

Ogles concluded his posts with reference to recent federal action and pending legislation: “President Trump just announced he’s reclaiming federal control of D.C.’s police. @BasedMikeLee and I have the BOWSER Act! This is exactly what must happen to dismantle D.C.’s corrupt government and permanently fix our Capitol. President Trump acted, and Congress must do the” (August 11, 2025).

Andy Ogles was born in Nashville in 1971 and currently resides in Columbia at age 51. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree before also attending Western Kentucky University in 1993.

The referenced BOWSER Act appears to be part of an ongoing debate over federal oversight of local governance in Washington D.C., an issue that has drawn attention during periods of heightened concern about public safety and municipal administration.
