Rep. Andy Ogles, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, posted a series of statements on August 11, 2025, addressing issues ranging from legislative support for former President Trump to criticism of federal research funding and promotion of the House Freedom Caucus agenda.
In a post made at 15:04 UTC, Ogles wrote, “President Trump is going to restore law and order. Congress must help him by passing the BOWSER Act. We can make Trump’s actions LAW.”
Later that day at 18:21 UTC, he shared concerns about federal spending, stating, ” My office just uncovered documentation showing the NIH’s Fogarty Center is blowing nearly $200K of YOUR money to study diseases in gay Vietnamese men. Taxpayers should not be funding this filth. I’m proud to join @RepBrandonGill and other patriots on a bill to clean https://t.co/iqUjWjWRX0″
At 21:14 UTC, Ogles expressed support for his congressional caucus with the message: “The House Freedom Caucus is on the frontlines—fighting for fiscal responsibility and driving the MAGA agenda forward in Congress.”
Andy Ogles was born in Nashville in 1971 and currently resides in Columbia. He succeeded Jim Cooper as representative of Tennessee’s 5th District and holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty International Center supports global health research initiatives; some programs have drawn scrutiny from lawmakers over their funding allocations.
