U.S. Representative Andy Ogles, who serves Tennessee’s 5th congressional district, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing crime in Nashville and recent encounters at a district event.
On September 5, 2025, Ogles wrote: “Praise God. Justice WILL be done.”
Later that day, he commented on public safety in Nashville by stating: “The latest FBI crime stats rank Nashville as the 8th most dangerous city in America. Instead of daydreaming about me, Comrade O’Connell should be focused on protecting the people of Nashville.
If he refuses to act, I will personally call on President Trump to step in and Make” (September 5, 2025).
On September 6, 2025, Ogles described an incident at one of his events: “Some leftist agitators tried to crash my district event—but we had a nice chat.
Hands off my guns. And keep your radical gender ideology away from our kids.”
Nashville has faced scrutiny over its crime rates in recent years. According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program, major cities are regularly ranked based on violent crime statistics collected nationwide. The city’s leadership has also been under pressure from both local and federal officials regarding strategies for public safety and law enforcement effectiveness.
Representative Ogles is known for his conservative positions on gun rights and education policy. He has previously spoken out against changes to gun legislation and voiced opposition to certain educational initiatives related to gender identity.
