U.S. Representative Andy Ogles has criticized Democratic lawmakers in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), focusing on federal spending priorities and law enforcement actions. The tweets, published between October 14 and October 15, 2025, accuse Democrats of prioritizing foreign aid and immigration issues over domestic needs.

On October 14, Ogles wrote, “$24.6M for ‘climate resilience’ in Honduras, but not a dime to keep America running. Democrats put woke foreign pet projects first.” The post references U.S. government funding allocated to climate resilience initiatives in Honduras, a Central American country that has received various forms of U.S. assistance in recent years.

Later the same day, Ogles posted another message, stating, “Dems are trying to arrest Federal Police Officers. Once again, Democrats are on the same side as cartels.” This tweet alludes to ongoing political disputes over law enforcement actions at the U.S. border.

On October 15, Ogles shared a third post: “BESSENT: Democrats are bleeding America $15 BILLION a day with this shutdown. DEMS ARE FIGHTING FOR ILLEGALS OVER U.S. TROOPS”. The statement refers to an ongoing government shutdown and claims about its financial impact.

Ogles, who represents Tennessee’s 5th congressional district, has been vocal about his opposition to certain federal spending policies and immigration measures. U.S. foreign aid programs have long included funding for climate adaptation and resilience in Central America, including Honduras, as part of broader efforts to address migration drivers and regional instability.

Debates over border security and law enforcement have intensified amid disputes between Republican and Democratic lawmakers regarding immigration policy and the role of federal agencies at the southern border. Government shutdowns, such as the one referenced by Ogles, often result from budgetary disagreements in Congress and can have significant economic consequences.
