Rep. Andy Ogles, currently serving in the U.S. Congress, has made a series of statements on social media criticizing the handling of immigration policies by former President Obama’s administration compared to those of former President Trump. Ogles, who represents Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023, has drawn parallels between the two administrations’ approaches to immigration, asserting contrasting reactions from the political left.
In a tweet posted on April 29, 2025, Ogles mentioned a historic event related to Obama’s Department of Homeland Security, documenting how “Operation Streamline” was expanded to conduct mass hearings for illegal aliens. Ogles highlighted, “On the off chance there was a court hearing, Obama’s DHS expanded “Operation Streamline,” cramming dozens of illegal aliens into one mass hearing at a time. Not one Leftist pundit called this a “travesty of justice” or “racist.” Reminder: in 1995, 1,400 illegals were subject”.
Another tweet on the same day expressed Ogles’ criticism toward those who previously supported Obama’s mass deportations yet criticized similar actions under Trump. Ogles asserted, “If you supported Obama’s mass deportations but now pretend to cry over “due process,” you are not “pro-immigrant.” You are a fraud. Deport them all.”.
Ogles continued his critique by addressing the political left’s reaction to Trump’s immigration policies, “Now when President Trump does one-tenth of what Obama did, they cry “fascism,” “racism,” and “authoritarianism.” Their defense of lawbreakers over American citizens is as staggering as it is disgraceful.”.
Ogles, born in Nashville in 1971 and currently residing in Columbia, holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
