U.S. Representative Andy Ogles, who serves Tennessee’s 5th congressional district, posted a series of statements on his social media account in early September 2025, addressing political opposition at a town hall event and commenting on federal intervention in major U.S. cities.
On September 6, 2025, Ogles wrote: “Marxist cowards in masks tried to disrupt my huge and successful townhall… Democrats have no real policies to offer the American people, so they resort to grandstanding. Pathetic.”
Two days later, on September 8, he commented on potential use of the National Guard in several U.S. cities: “President Trump created the template by locking down D.C. Now it’s time for a nationwide tour; send the Guard to Chicago, Memphis, and Nashville. If blue mayors want to sabotage our country, Trump will show them who’s boss.” In a separate post later that day, Ogles added simply: “Nashville!”
Ogles has been an outspoken conservative voice in Congress since first being elected in 2022. His comments regarding federal deployment of the National Guard reference past actions taken during periods of unrest in Washington D.C., as well as ongoing debates over public safety and governance in cities led by Democratic mayors.
