Rep. Andy Ogles, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, recently expressed his concerns and actions through a series of tweets on July 1, 2025. Born in Nashville in 1971, Ogles resides in Columbia and holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
In his first tweet, Ogles stated, “I don’t work for the Senate parliamentarian. I work for the PEOPLE.” He mentioned filing an amendment to replace what he referred to as a “dud” with a stronger House bill that was passed weeks earlier. Ogles criticized the Senate’s version of the bill for removing key provisions associated with former President Trump.
Later that day, Ogles issued a warning directed at an individual named Open-Borders O’Connell: “If our ongoing investigation finds that you broke the law, there will be jail time.”
In another tweet posted shortly after, Ogles claimed that the Senate “CAVED to an unelected staffer appointed by a Democrat” and rushed through an unfinished bill before July 4th celebrations. He criticized this version of the bill for requiring Tennesseans to pay for healthcare for illegal aliens—a provision not present in the House bill.
Additional context reveals that Rep. Andy Ogles succeeded Jim Cooper in Congress two years ago and continues to represent Tennessee’s interests.
