Rep. Andy Ogles, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023, recently expressed concerns through a series of tweets regarding issues related to immigration and healthcare. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Ogles is currently residing in Columbia and is an alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
On May 15, 2025, Rep. Ogles questioned the priorities of Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, suggesting that he is “prioritizing illegal alien criminals—many of them rapists, murderers, and drug dealers—over the safety of Tennesseans”.
Later that day, at 21:36 UTC, he declared his stance against any potential transformation of Tennessee cities into what he described as “the San Francisco of the South.” He emphasized the need for deportation and investigation into those who might be obstructing such actions.
In another tweet posted at 22:33 UTC on the same day, Rep. Ogles provided an update on budget reconciliation efforts. He criticized policies that would lead to “codifying Obamacare” and allowing “illegal aliens [to] keep their taxpayer-funded healthcare.” He expressed concern about why undocumented immigrants receive more healthcare benefits than seniors.
Andy Ogles replaced Jim Cooper in Congress in 2023. A native of Nashville born in 1971, Ogles has been actively involved in legislative matters concerning immigration and healthcare policy.
