Rep. Andy Ogles, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, recently shared his views on law enforcement, Medicaid, and federal investigative priorities through a series of tweets.
On May 7, 2025, Ogles expressed his support for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. He stated, “I proudly stand with @ICEgov. These brave men and women risk their lives to keep rapists, cartel thugs, and gangbangers off our streets. No one should vilify these heroes. Law and order isn’t optional—it’s the foundation of a civilized society.”
In another tweet posted on the same day at 15:27 UTC, Rep. Ogles addressed the issue of Medicaid allocation. He argued that “Medicaid should be for those who truly need it—not work-capable adults, not illegal aliens, and definitely not corrupt state governments.” He emphasized that Medicaid is meant as “a resource for the vulnerable,” rather than “a trust fund for the lazy,” calling for an end to what he perceives as wasteful spending.
Later that afternoon at 16:05 UTC, Ogles critiqued the focus of federal investigations under different administrations. He noted a shift in priorities from what he described as targeting Christians and meme accounts under President Biden’s FBI to focusing on “predators and perverts” under Trump’s administration with @FBIDirectorKash at its helm. He questioned, “Who do you really want protecting your family?”
Andy Ogles was born in Nashville in 1971 and resides in Columbia, Tennessee. An alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University, he has served in Congress since succeeding Jim Cooper in 2023.
