Rep. Andy Ogles, who represents Tennessee’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 18, 2025, covering topics from local passport services to criticism of Belmont University’s diversity initiatives.
In his first tweet at 16:35 UTC, Ogles promoted an upcoming event for Nashville residents: “Have you been thinking about applying for a passport? Wait no longer—my staff is assisting with the Nashville Congressional Passport Fair, where you can bring your completed application in person! See below for all the details and to schedule your appointment. https://t.co/UE2X6z54Tz”
Later that day at 18:06 UTC, Ogles posted a brief message accompanied by an external link: ” BOOM!!! https://t.co/Rnn5m9O2Kh”
At 19:59 UTC, he turned his attention to Belmont University’s Office of Hope, Unity, and Belonging (HUB), writing: ” BELMONT BOMBSHELL #3 The woke college president just sent a campus-wide email claiming the HUB—Belmont’s Office of Hope, Unity, and Belonging—is meant to “share the light of Christ” and is in compliance with federal law. That’s a blatant deception. HUB is DEI propaganda https://t.co/aoqCklMfxx”
Andy Ogles has served as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023 after succeeding Jim Cooper. He was born in Nashville in 1971 and currently resides in Columbia. Ogles holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
Belmont University’s Office of Hope, Unity, and Belonging (HUB) has previously described its mission as fostering community values aligned with Christian principles while also engaging with diversity efforts—a topic that has drawn debate both locally and nationally.
