Rep. Andy Ogles, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 5th district since 2023, has made several statements through his social media platform that have drawn attention. The congressman, who succeeded Jim Cooper and is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, commented on various issues including security clearances and immigration policies.
On May 16, 2025, Rep. Ogles expressed concerns about security clearances in a tweet, stating: “Strip all clearances- this is a crime scene now. Anyone with ties to Comey is a potential threat.” This statement suggests a strong stance on security matters related to individuals connected to James Comey.
Later the same day, at 14:34 UTC, Ogles addressed immigration enforcement in another post. He mentioned an incident involving ICE and a Guatemalan man deported for assaulting someone. Ogles criticized Freddie O’Connell’s efforts against deportations by ICE, questioning if it concerned his audience: “This Guatemalan man was deported by ICE for assaulting someone—Freddie O’Connell is trying everything he can to stop ICE from deporting more illegals. Does this concern you?”
In a subsequent tweet at 15:37 UTC on the same day, Rep. Ogles accused Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell of supporting policies favoring illegal immigrants and potentially using municipal resources against President Trump’s initiatives. He noted having sent letters to Chairs Mark Green and Jim Jordan demanding investigation into these actions: “Nashville Mayor O’Connell supports pro-illegal policies and his actions indicate a possible use of municipal resources to undermine President Trump.”
Andy Ogles holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
