Rep. Andy Ogles, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023, has used his social media platform to comment on governance in Washington, D.C., public broadcasting funding, and national political leadership. Ogles succeeded Jim Cooper and has been vocal on various policy issues.

On July 10, 2025, Rep. Ogles expressed concern about the state of governance in the nation’s capital. In his post, he stated: “DC has proven it is incapable of governing itself. Congressional interns are being killed on the streets, and my constituents, who visit, are forced to step over homeless encampments in what is supposed to be THEIR capital.”

Later that same day, Ogles addressed federal funding for public broadcasters. On July 10, 2025, he wrote: “Defund PBS and NPR—this shouldn’t even be controversial!”

On July 11, 2025, Ogles made a brief statement referencing political leadership in the country: “Newscum’s America.”

Andy Ogles was born in Nashville in 1971 and resides in Columbia. He holds degrees from Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University.
