Rep. Andy Ogles, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee’s 5th district, shared a series of tweets on April 14, 2025, addressing concerns related to U.S. land purchases by Chinese firms, the presence of Chinese nationals in the U.S., and the fentanyl crisis.

In the first tweet, Ogles highlighted what he described as the “vast and questionable” purchases of U.S. land by Chinese firms. According to him, these companies own over 277,000 acres of land valued at more than a billion dollars, with some plots located near U.S. military bases in Florida and North Dakota—a situation he characterized as a “hostile takeover.”

Ogles further expressed his concerns about border security in a tweet, stating that “tens of thousands of Chinese Nationals” were invited across the U.S. border illegally by President Joe Biden.

Additionally, the congressman raised alarms about the production and distribution of fentanyl, emphasizing that China “is lining its pockets” by producing the drug. He accused the Chinese government of being actively involved in what he termed “mass poisoning” of American youth, asserting that profits from this activity help finance Mexican cartels.

Ogles, 51, was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and resides in Columbia. He has been representing Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023, succeeding Jim Cooper in the U.S. Congress Andy Ogles graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS and again in 1993 from Western Kentucky University.
