In a series of tweets, U.S. Congress member Andy Ogles, currently representing Tennessee’s 5th District since 2023, voiced strong opinions on past immigration policies, specifically under former President Obama. The tweets addressed controversial deportations and highlighted perceptions of media bias and political motivations.
On April 29, 2025, Rep. Andy Ogles posted, “1/ Remember when Obama deported 3 million people — most without any due process? Probably not. Back then, the media didn’t mourn the lack of due process; they cheered it. Their hypocrisy is brazen but entirely predictable.” In this tweet, Ogles expressed criticism of the media’s response to deportations during the Obama administration, suggesting a lack of public outcry over due process violations.
In another tweet from the same day, he stated, “2/ By Obama’s second term, 75% of deportations were done via expedited removal — NO hearings, NO lawyers, NO judges. And the irony? Those numbers come straight from the Left’s own legal mouthpiece: the ACLU.” Here, Ogles pointed to statistics on deportations without court hearings and emphasized the data’s origin from the American Civil Liberties Union.
Continuing his critique, Ogles tweeted, “4/ For the Left, it was never about principles — it was always about politics. Their crocodile tears for illegal aliens aren’t about ‘humanity’ or ‘justice.’ They’re about power.” This statement underlined his view that immigration policy criticisms by the political left are driven by political strategy rather than genuine humanitarian concerns.
Andy Ogles, born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1971 and a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Western Kentucky University, has been vocal about his political beliefs. He succeeded Jim Cooper in Congress, bringing his own perspectives to the legislative platform.
