Rep. Andy Ogles has called for an investigation into a recent Instagram post by former FBI Director James Comey. The letter, addressed to Secret Service Director Sean Curran, FBI Director Kash Patel, and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, claims that Comey’s post was “a coded suggestion to ‘eliminate 47’—that is, assassinate the President.” The post included a photograph of seashells arranged in the numbers “86 47,” which Ogles asserts is understood to mean “kill 47.”

Ogles’ letter urges both agencies to look into possible violations of federal law, including threats against the President and interstate threats under 18 U.S.C. § 871 and 18 U.S.C. § 875. It also seeks confirmation on whether Comey still has access to classified information or security clearances.

“This isn’t just bad judgment—it’s a veiled threat from a former FBI Director who knows exactly what he’s doing,” said Congressman Ogles. He added that if similar actions were taken by someone on the right against a leftist figure, there would be significant backlash.

Congressman Ogles further stated: “The Left invented the term ‘stochastic terrorism’ to go after conservatives anytime they voiced a strong opinion. Now they need to live by their own standard.” He emphasized that if Comey violated the law, he should face consequences without exception.
