Congressman Andy Ogles has announced his intention to request formal investigations into Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell and other city officials. The call for action comes in response to what Ogles describes as repeated efforts by the mayor and city officials to obstruct lawful operations conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Ogles expressed his concerns, stating, “When federal agents and Tennessee law enforcement risk their lives to detain rapists, traffickers, and gang members, the only appropriate response from our leaders should be gratitude—not obstruction.”
He further accused Mayor O’Connell of interfering with ICE activities. “Mayor Freddie O’Connell is blatantly obstructing ICE officials. By ordering city agencies to monitor and potentially sabotage ICE operations, he has crossed a dangerous line—using the power of government to shield criminal illegal aliens from the law,” said Ogles.
The congressman emphasized the seriousness of these actions, declaring that “aiding and abetting illegal aliens to evade federal enforcement is not just reckless—it is a crime.” He called for immediate investigations by both the House Judiciary Committee and the Homeland Security Committee into the conduct of Mayor O’Connell and Nashville’s city government.
In his statement, Ogles drew comparisons with other cities known for their sanctuary policies. “This isn’t San Francisco. This isn’t Portland. And I refuse to let Democrats turn our state into a playground for cartels and predators. Nashville will not become a sanctuary city on my watch.”
