University of Tennessee Southern Women's Soccer Launches Title Defense Campaign for 2022

Tennessee Southern women's soccer coach Will Austin has announced its 2022 schedule that will feature 17 games, seven away contests, seven home games, and three neutral-site contests. This year the Firehawks begin the season ranked #1 and look to defend both the Mid-South Conference regular-season and tournament championships plus defend the program's third national title since 2005. 

This year's schedule features eight games against teams that qualified for the NAIA National Championships last season and three games against teams that were ranked in the top 10 in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll. 

The Firehawks will open their 2022 season at Grissom Pitch against Mount Vernon Nazarene on August 27. There will be a special presentation that night celebrating the 2021 National Championship team and ring presentation. Tennessee Southern will end August play traveling to Montgomery, Ala. to face Faulkner on the 30th.

UTS will play seven games during September beginning September 3rd when they travel to Savannah, Ga. to face #6 Keiser and #18 SCAD Savannah. The Firehawks dispatched the Bees in Pulaski last year in the post-season 6-1 to advance to Orange Beach, Ala. The following week UTS will continue their road trip wheer they will face #2 William Carey and Georgia Gwinnett in Foley, Ala. The Firehawks defeated the Crusaders 5-4 in PK's after both teams played to a 3-3 score in the NAIA National Championship game.

The Following weekend MSC play will commence as the Firehawks return home to meet #14 Lindsey Wilson on the 21st. and #23 Campbellsville on the 24th. UTS will conclude the month traveling to McKenzie, Tenn. for a date with Bethel on the 28th. 

The Firehawks continue their conference action in October by hosting Freed-Hardeman on the 1st. The team will travel to eastern Kentucky for a pair of matches with #10 Cumberlands (Oct. 5) and Pikeville (Oct. 9). UTS will return to the Pitch on the 9th hosting Thomas More.

Tennessee Southern hits the road one final time for the regular season on October 19th and 23rd when they travel to Georgetown and Shawnee State. UTS will host #16 Cumberland and Asbury to conclude the regular season at Grissom Pitch. The Bulldogs were the only squad last season to defeat the Firehawks in a 2-1 nail-biter. 

The Mid-South Conference Championships will begin on November 5th at the higher seeds and will begin in Bowling Green, Ky on November 9th.
