The University of Tennessee Southern Barksdale Leads the Firehawks in Historic Race

History was made on the grounds at the University of Tennessee Southern Athletic Complex as the cross country teams hosted the 2nd annual Firehawk Invitational. This was the first collegiate cross country race ever to be held in Giles County. The Firehawks women's cross country team finished fourth on Friday (Sept. 2).

Bethel paced all teams with 35 points and finished in a time of 1:56:01, while Andrea De La Rosa captured the top podium spot with a 20:27 marker.

Freshman Olivia Barksdale led the Firehawk effort earning a 5th-place finish in 22:23. UTS ended the race in 2:11:33 and with 94 points.

The rest of the Tennessee Southern scorers finished in a group, taking places 19, 21, 24, and 25. Sophomore Jordan Greene landed a time of 26:38, while junior Brianna Pearson ran a 27:09. Freshman Emma Randall crossed the line at 27:34, with freshman Cierra Arnold just fourteen seconds behind at 27:48.

The Firehawks will travel to Florence, Ala., to run in the North Alabama Invitational on Saturday, September 10th.
