University of Tennessee Southern Three Firehawks Net Double Figures, Firehawks Conquer Ambassadors

The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team broke up Oakwood's two-game winning streak in the series with an 83-79 win in Ashby Auditorium.

Three Firehawks contributed double figures in the game. Kavion Hancock led all scorers with 19 points. Hancock connected on 11 of 12 attempts from the free throw stripe. Adarion Hudson brought his career point total to 1,239 adding 17 tonight. Kendall Wright threw in 11 shooting four of five from the field.

The Firehawks jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first eight minutes holding Oakwood to just one field goal. UTS would have a two-point advantage at the break leading 31-29.

Opening the second half, UTS again dialed up the defense putting together a 13-0 run to lead 44-29. The Firehawks would need every point they could score as the Ambassadors began to heat up in front of an electric crowd. The Ambassadors would outscore the Firehawks 50-39 down the stretch, but UTS would take the "W" back to Pulaski. There were 3 ties and two lead changes.
