University of Tennessee Southern Three Firehawks Earn NAIA All-American Honors

The 2022 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America Team was announced on Wednesday as Laura Maria from Oklahoma Wesleyan was named the 2022 NAIA Player of the Year. The NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Women's Soccer Coaches Association officers and seven additional women's soccer coaches, select the three 11-member teams and the honorable mention teams.

Maria became the NAIA all-time points leader in a season after totaling 137 in 2022, the last of which came in the NAIA National Championship Tournament Final Site. Maria ended her year with 56 goals, one shy of tying the record set by Southeastern's Uchenna Kanu back in 2018. The senior also recorded 25 assists, which puts her seventh all-time in assists in a season.

Overall, William Carey (Miss.) led all teams at the top with six honorees on the top three teams and Spring Arbor (Mich.) followed closely behind with five. Spring Arbor led all institutions with three, first-team selections.

The 2022 Select Sport America-NAIA Women's Soccer National Coach of the Year will be announced in January.
