Jamie Carr/Assistant Softball Coach | Maryville College
Maryville head coach Jill Moore has welcomed the addition of Jamie Carr as an assistant softball coach.
Carr pitched at Maryville College and she returns to campus from Chattanooga State Community College, where she was an assistant coach since 2016. Carr oversaw the Tigers pitching staff and helped produce the conference pitcher of the year each of the last three seasons, including All-Americans in 2019 and 2022.
Chattanooga State won four conference championships during Carr's tenure and in 2022 advanced to a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.
"I am ecstatic with the experience and knowledge Jamie brings to our pitching staff," Moore said. "Not only was she a winner in the circle at Maryville College, but she continued her winning ways as a successful coach at Chattanooga State.
"Year in and year out, she helped them vie for an NJCAA Division I national championship. She has been all in from Day 1, and I can't wait to see her get to work in the bullpen with our pitchers."
Carr played at Maryville College as Jamie Edwards and compiled 43 pitching victories while earning numerous honors. She was the 2002 Great South Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and a three-time All-Conference performer. She was the team MVP in 2001, an NFCA All-Region Third Team selection in 2003, and in 2002 she helped the Scots reach the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history.
"It's been great being back on campus at Maryville College," Carr said. "I've always loved the sense of community Maryville College gave me. I'm looking forward to giving back to a program that gave so much to me as a player.
"I truly enjoyed my time at Chattanooga State, and I am grateful for the coaches and team. I'm looking forward to getting back on the dirt!"
A native of Whiteland, Indiana, Carr and her husband, Brandon, are the parents of a daughter, Finley.
