After winning their first four games of 2023, each one eclipsing the 100-point mark on the scoreboard, the Roane State Raiders men’s basketball team stumbled at Walters St. on a bad shooting night, falling by ten points, 91-81.
In a back-and-forth first half, the Raiders went to the halftime locker room trailing by only four, 45-41.
In the second half, the Raiders kept the game close, but the Senators pulled away down the stretch to take home the win.
On the evening, the Raiders had an off night shooting the ball, connecting on only 37.9% (25 of 66) of their shots from the floor and 7 of 30 (23.3%) from beyond the arc.
Roane State’s Kavon Blankenship led all scorers in the contest with 24 points. Cearius “King” Warren notched his seventh double-double of the season with 20-points and 13 rebounds.
Freshman Sebastian Tidor added 18-points in the loss, including an 8-for-8 effort from the free throw line.
The loss dropped the Raiders to 11-6 on the season and 5-3 in conference play.
