Rep. Andy Ogles, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Tennessee's 5th district since 2023, has recently made several statements via social media addressing various political issues. Ogles, who succeeded Jim Cooper in office and is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, has voiced his opinions on border security, international relations concerning Israel and Iran, and domestic immigration policies.
On October 1st, Rep. Ogles expressed his discontent with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and President Joe Biden regarding border security legislation. He stated that "The House passed the ONLY bill that secures the border. Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden refuse to sign it."
Later that day, he commented on international affairs involving Iran's actions against Israel. He urged support for Israel by stating: "Pray for Israel and its people. Iran’s attacks against Israel today are nothing short of evil. America must continue to stand with Israel."
On October 2nd, Rep. Ogles criticized Vice President Kamala Harris regarding her handling of immigration policy through the Department of Homeland Security's Temporary Protected Status program. He accused her of using it unlawfully to admit migrants from Afghanistan into the United States without proper vetting: "Kamala Harris is unlawfully weaponizing DHS’s Temporary Protected Status program to import nearly 18,000 migrants from Afghanistan."
