House passes Ogles' bill against energy standards for washers

Congressman Andy Ogles from Tennessee's 5th District has seen his Liberty in Laundry Act pass through the House of Representatives. The bill aims to prevent the Department of Energy under President Biden from setting energy conservation standards on clothes washers, which Ogles views as burdensome.

Ogles stated, "I have spent much of my time in Congress fighting back the federal government’s vast overreach into the lives of hardworking Americans. In a slew of woke, 'environmental' nonsense rulemaking attempts by the Biden Administration, the Secretary of Energy issued new standards for clothing washers and dryers in March." He continued, "In response, I introduced the Liberty in Laundry Act, which will prohibit the Secretary of Energy from imposing 'energy conservation standards' for clothes washers that are not economically feasible and economically justified. Americans should be able to do their laundry in peace without the input of Big Brother."

The bill is cosponsored by Representatives John Moolenar from Michigan's 2nd District and Diana Harshbarger from Tennessee's 1st District.
