The Roane State Lady Raiders lost to No. 21 Walters State in their final home game of the regular season Wednesday night, 57-42. It was only the team’s sixth loss of the campaign.

The Lady Raiders were able to take advantage of poor shooting by the Lady Senators in the first half. After trailing 9-5 at the end of the first quarter, Roane State was able to take a three-point lead to the halftime locker room, 21-18.

In the third period, Walters State rattled off 18 unanswered points to take a 32-21 lead. The Roane women only scored four points in the entire quarter and did not get on the board until the 2:53 mark. The frame ended with the Lady Senators on top 41-25.

In the final stanza, the Lady Raiders rallied at times but could not overcome the deficit created in the third quarter, ultimately losing by 15 points.

On the night, the team hit only 36.6% (15-41) from the floor and were only 25% (1-4) from three-point range. At the charity stripe, the Lady Raiders hit for 61.1% (11-18).

Sophomore post Kirby Brown was the only RSCC player to get into double figures with eleven points.

The loss dropped the Lady Raiders to 21-6 overall and 11-6 in the conference. As the team prepares for the last game of the regular season, they sit in fourth place behind undefeated Walters State and Chattanooga State and Cleveland State, who are tied for second with 13-4 conference marks.

The Lady Raiders will be on the road to face Dyersburg State in the season finale on Saturday and 2:00 pm Central.
