COLUMBIA, TN - The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently announced that residents and businesses in certain counties across Tennessee impacted by the severe weather storms that began on March 31st, 2023 are eligible for an extended tax filing deadline of July 31st, 2023.

The current counties eligible include Cannon, Hardeman, Hardin,  Haywood, Macon, McNairy, Rutherford, Tipton, Wayne, and Lewis. Lewis County is located in the 5th Congressional District, which is represented by Congressman Ogles. More specific details on this relief for the victims of the storms can be found at IRS.gov.

Some folks may find that they need more time (beyond the July 31st extension) to file. If that is the case, please make an effort to request the extension before the original April 18th, 2023, deadline. There are two free and easy ways to request this extension: (1) through IRS Free File OR (2) through IRS Direct Pay. Both options are available only on IRS.gov. Visit IRS.gov/extensions for details.

As always, if you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to Congressman Ogles’ office at (931) 777-2140.
